Make your words do more.

Capture exactly what you mean. Make your readers feel how you want them to. And more simply, sound pretty good.

A note, since you’re probably thinking about it: by all means, get AI involved in your writing. I’ll happily incorporate our digital colleagues to make things go a bit quicker, or do niche searches. But AI can’t replace good, solid, human judgement. You still need a writer for that.

I’m a writer and language consultant for the UK, US, and EU

Which means I do all the things you might expect – copywriting, tone of voice, naming – but with a view to whole language.

I look at the strategy behind what you write, the sounds and rhythms of the words you choose (even when to be silent), cultural register, and the technical nuts and bolts of grammar. I can help you play with subtle shades of meaning, calibrate your tone everywhere you’re writing, and help you balance colloquialisms – so you sound natural without leaning too far into slang.

I do all this for UK, US, and Canadian English, whether you’re writing for one market, adapting a brand for a transatlantic move, or figuring out how to sound distinctive yet global (a classic). I can also work in the EU, although English localisation needs are usually less pressing there.

I’m here to guide you through hard decisions

Whether you’re agonising over a name, or figuring out what’s most important to tell the world. And I can help you make sense of whatever you’re working on, at whatever point. I can join you when you’re just starting out, or leap into the middle of a project.

Writing

From scratch, a rewrite, or a quick polish. Whatever you’re doing, and however far you’re into it.

And with however much AI you’d like. I love AI, I use it, and I have better judgement than it does.

Tone of voice

Use your words. Stand out with a distinctive way of writing, or just raise the bar for everyone.

Localisation (or localization)

Beyond fiddling with the letter u or swapping ‘lift’ and ‘elevator’.

I shift US writing to UK and back again, with no baseball or cricket metaphors where they don’t belong.

Messaging + content creation

Nail what your readers need to know, and say it to them clearly.

Naming

Tell a big story in a very small space. Get it right, and get it by legal. And keep naming well in the future.

Company names, product names, whole systems, and guidelines.

Training

Boost your confidence about writing and grammar, learn a specific skill, or roll out your new tone of voice or naming system.

Verbal strategy + consulting

Take a look at the bigger picture to diagnose what’s going on – then cure it.

From tiny phrasing issues to broader plans, we’ll figure it out together.

Baby naming

Because you never know how many people you hate until you try to name a baby. Use the cleverest corporate tricks to help you decide.
